Status : OnlineBASICALLY.. we're paying a sub fee and the game is great but the login part needs serious work. People have been asking to get this fixed since 2013 and it still hasn't happened. For a program as 'graceful' as FFXIV the login system is 'clumsy' indeed. Please spend some of our sub fees on fixing this. Thanks in advance.

I'll be restarting my app in a minute (on ps4), but it is curious that if I cancel the log in attempt and then select my character again, I actually get the loading screen for the Black Shroud for about a second before it goes back to the character screen and gives me the queue.
